Texas high school football team players John Moxon (James Van Der Beck) and Lance Harbor (Paul Walker) along with their fellow team members are faced with the most difficult decision of their football careers when they must decide between following their hard-nosed, legendary coach Bud Kilmer (John Voight) or standing up for what they believe to be right for their team, themselves, and all their sport was supposed to stand for. These teenage boys must band together to save each other and their season under the guidance of replacement quarterback John Moxon. They must withstand the pressures and expectations placed upon them to further their school's legacy or risk crumbling under the weight of their demanding place in Texas football.
